It is likely that the word HEX in the name of this town is related to witchcraft/ the HAM part is not a reference to cooked meat though! It would be HAMLET, i.e a small community. So literally a village of witches.
It is not anywhere near Clacton, it is in the North. It is famous for leather gloves, and there have been paranormal activity reports including sightings of a "werewolf-like monster" following the unearthing of two pottery heads in a garden in the town.
