Nitrate and nitrite are not the same thing. The original poppers were amyl nitrite.

The original in 1850 when it was medicine for angina...it's script only anyway. i heard that in Australia you can get it in a chemist shop.

To answer your question, No, I don't think there are any amyl nitrite suppliers in the US

Not to be confused with ISOamyl nitrite, not same! but carries the BRAND of AMYL!

Breakdown:

USA Isobuytl Nitrite (CH3)2CHCH2ONO
EU Isopentyl Nitrite CH3(CH2)4ONO
UK Isopropyl Nitrite (CH3)2CHONO
China Hexyl Nitrite CH3(CH2)5ONO

The "original" if you are a 19th century angina sufferer is (CH3)2CH(CH2)2ONO or AMYL. The original snappers, which then became brown bottle poppers is (CH3)2CHCH2ONO Isobutyl Nitrite. This is the formula created in California in the late1960s by Clifford Hassing. It is the formula of PWD RUSH. Possibly if you tried poppers between 1964 and 69 it might have contained AMYL, but that means you are now in your 80s! The classic hot strong aroma one from 1970s disco era and 1980s is BUTYL. Amyl is shorter lived, historical 19th century one, and is script only, most people are familiar with Isobutyl. Amyl has morphed into like a street word, actually most people never had amyl as it stopped by 1969. Newspaper articles always say "amyl nitrate" when it is really Isobutyl.
