Do me a favor and mix your NaNO2 at 40%, make twice as much as you need, but wait for a day for it to stand. Decant off the clear top portion, and let none of the white powder at the bottom go through. If you try to charcoal filter it, you will end up with brown gas. There might be another way to remove the powder through filtration, but I don't know what that method is.
