I’ve read a few articles saying the ban was lifted in 2016 but can’t be advertised for human consumption. Is this correct? If so, why not revert back to old formula if it is deemed safer? Also, what are the rules for importing to Uk from France etc?

I believe only isopropyl nitrite(made from rubbing alcohol) is legal in the UK.
Isopropyl is the worst....anything with ISO in the name is not as good. You get effects, but they aren't the best effects.
N-butyl nitrite is very potent and has good, pleasurable effects, especially if you love getting fucked. You will be turned into an aggressive bottom slut with every whiff.
N-amyl nitrite is good too, but I'm not sure if it's better than butyl nitrite. Isopentyl/isoamyl.....are not good.

Yes they are! Poppers are sold widely in lots of specialist stores and some clubs etc. You should get out more and show everyone what you've got! Its no good staying at home listening to those Jason Donovan LPs and eating trifle.

Mr madeplentyofpoppers: all alkyl nitrites have same effects because alkyl chain is not active part of alkyl nitrites. It is only question of dose. And poppers is only a preparation in which one part is alkyl nitrite mixture. At leat in theory it is possible to make different poppers only using one and the same alkyl nitrite mixture with different amount of active chemicals, and they all feel different.

@Frilly thanks for the confirmation. I gave up a few years back when the ban was put in place. Only recent curiosity had me searching again to find they have been legalised again. What brands are you using and which cities seem to have the best stuff? Another reason I stopped was the degrade in quality hence my first question, why won’t the UK revert back to the old recipe if poppers are legal again?

The EU banned the key ingredient 'iso butyl nitrite' in 2007. They claimed it was carcinogenic. It was replaced quickly with 'iso propyl nitrite' which is nasty inferior stuff which has bad after effects, like vision loss.

Maybe once we out of the EU, the substance will not be banned in the UK, could this mean it could return? What are the best alternative brands people are using in the UK and where are they getting it from?

I live in South Texas. Where can I get poppers? I used to order from San Francisco poppers. Anywhere I can order from in the us

I think when we leave the EU all sorts of things will happen. I doubt that the electorate - who lemming-like chucked post-war consensus down the pan -are going to be in favor of a new poppers nirvana. More likely: ducking stools, corporal punishment, conscription, and public hanging are on the agenda.
Oh and the REAL story about poppers in the UK has nothing to do with the EU. It is UK law and a test prosecution of some adult book shop way back that caused the change. There is some guy on here who is always going on about rats - not applicable. Amyl and iso-butyl got stopped in the UK by UK law. I can't remember the name of the law, but it was that what done it, matey.
@ effects - explain more what u mean.

I certainly didn't like the way the EU covertly changed the formula from iso butyl to iso propyl in 2007. Very devious if you ask me. Where was the announcement / information that they had done this?
Bugger the EU.

@Laura, check out Double Scorpio poppers, they're made in Austin I think.

@jacko , can you get double Scorpio in the Uk? If not, anyone in the US willing to purchase and post?
Notpoppedinawhile said on Mon, 20 Jan 2020 at 13:33...
Above post was from me

Absolutely no Double Scorpio in the UK, only iso propyl poppers are legal here, and they're all the same with different labels.

There wasn't one ....'cus they didn't do any such thing. It is "Our Jako's" favorite conspiracy theory involving rats (Rattus norvegicus)

I made my horrific discovery of the demise of the old poppers in a tent at Glastonbury. I struggled with the new, shitty, eye damaging isopropyl version for about eight years until I could take no more then started ordering better stuff from France. Ultimately I started making my own. Yes it nearly got banned outright in 2015 until a gay Tory MP did something useful for a change. Still, I prefer my own

Please explain your logic here. Didn't he champion IPN? So how does that work then? I am not the brightest star in the firmament so please enlighten me.

Not something one hears very often. Well certainly not when ear-wigging at Waitrose. I was once in a tent at Henley and overheard someone complain bitterly about the quality of hummus. Apparently there should be pine nuts. We all have our problems I suppose.

I wouldn't trust Snake myself. Speaks broken English and ignores all questions.
