hey!morning! anyone got any advice for me about the poppers you can get in the uk? just wondering because the stuff here is weak. i am heading there so I was thinking of picking up a carton. which brand is good? is there a good place to buy poppers? cheers!

equestrian mistress said on Thu, 25 Apr 2013 at 21:00...

What do you mean by a carton? I was just pondering and thinking you might think about putting it in your luggage? All the UK brands have special caps which keeps everything fresh I suppose! Can be tricky if you are not used to them. I find the brands are much the same IMHO

dcoyne said on Sat, 27 Apr 2013 at 13:49...

Hey there! i mean like a small box maybe 10 or so.

iPop said on Sun, 28 Apr 2013 at 07:44...

All poppers in the UK contain ispropyl nitrite. Isopropyl nitrites are OK in the in Britain, and, I strongly suspect that they are OK stateside as well. eq is about to do her mother hen act I guess. Those caps are no big deal either, because they were specifically made under safety guidelines you'll find they are good at keeping the aroma fresh as well.

As regards which is the best poppers? One of the oldest brands is Liquid Gold - it has been around for more than 30 years. New arrivals have more trendy cutting edge plastic wrappers....get my point. Do you buy poppers for the packaging...

Paddy's Dude said on Tue, 30 Apr 2013 at 05:43...

Yeah they may be OK. And you think that some stressed out airport guy is gonna know that? Are these poppers out of UK good? can you buy them in a London store or just online. some guy in London told me they are harsh.

dcoyne said on Wed, 1 May 2013 at 07:00...

thnx for the heads up guyz! hadn't thought about it really

Rex said on Wed, 1 May 2013 at 09:35...

it is real easy to buy poppers in UK. Not the same in European countries like Holland but then you can ask in a shop like in Amsterdam and then can find it but you don't see it the shelf. True that the screw top is different as well but then it doesn't leak :-)) if you order some poppers by post then sometimes one bottle can leak :-((

PJ said on Fri, 3 May 2013 at 23:11...

Are the poppers in Holland any good then? I have read a few Nicolas Freeling novels and there was no mention of them.

iPop said on Sun, 5 May 2013 at 21:59...

What a dumb response. As if anyone thinks that Van der Valk was a poppers queen!

antipasto said on Tue, 7 May 2013 at 05:46...

<ignores nonsense> Yes, the new range of poppers can be harsh. Whilst the old stuff used to be either i/ sweet and sticky or ii/ like a mind tsunami, the newbies tend to be strong like ii/ but like a load of chilli and lime (astringent really). If you try Jolt Poppers you will find that they contain this isopropyl nitrite BUT contain essences like coconut that counter the astringency. They are not from the UK, like many brands are, but are French.

we ordered few times from poppers-europe.com , it seems legit

Cma1436814 said on Wed, 29 May 2013 at 20:49...

Best place to get them is www.ukaromas.com

GRAND COQ said on Fri, 31 May 2013 at 11:36...

Thank you Eric and Cma1436814......<sigh>

I am not sure why certain people are moaning about those safety caps with UK style poppers! They only present a problem to the elderly because of arthritis. Oh well....some old horsey miss seems to be past her prime. Send her to the glue factory :-)

Anonymous said on Fri, 7 Jun 2013 at 15:17...

You must know how to twist them though...do you press down and then twist or what???

PJ said on Wed, 12 Jun 2013 at 11:16...

Press and twist is the way to go. Lots of people say UK stuff is not as good as the old days; I find them different and that's all. Nose burn can be a prob for some brands, but not all. I think Jolt has quite a cult following amongst poppers folk in the know. It is not just isotropyl nitrite either, I find that interesting as elsewhere it was written that these new Rush Gold, or whatever, are also a combo formula.

Stick a cucumber up your rear and grow a tail...and also grow a pair, GQ. Say that to my face and see what transpires. <just kidding> Ohhhh..I heard Mr Coq likes a bit of verbal during play ;-)

I think RUSH poppers was always the best and most intense. But since the us stopped putting it over here and the eu and uk had to start making thier own shit with medical caps on it its all gone to pot!! Sick of buying fake pdw poppers or uk week crap that does nothing but give u a head ache and a scabby nose! I buy from powerpoppers.com but its still not top quality.
I remember when you could have a wee sniff of the bottle and ur heart would be jumping out your chest!! Now you need to pump half the bottle just to get your cock to tingle lol. BRING BACK THE OLD SCHOOL!!!

WHO KNOWS WHERE TO BUY THE GOOOOOOOD STUFF NO FAKE NO weak SHIT HEEEEEELP. IM IN UK..

Old Fogey said on Thu, 11 Jul 2013 at 12:40...

Old school! You young whipper snappers don't no the meaning of old school. In my day we had the great smell of Brut and the chance to get towel whipped by a real man like Tommy Cooper

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xf-4Gbqyni4

Vox Popperius said on Thu, 25 Jul 2013 at 13:44...

Kevin Keegan was a looker in his day. All that 70s frizz...although I like nothing better than a nice classic mullet myself. I doubt that Tommy Cooper in a Fez would look so playful (in a manly sense of course) as our Henry. Tommy Cooper whipping Kev in a shower would have looked deeply peculiar. That ad is just good wholesome clean fun...like a male bath in Istanbul. It is a pity that Brut didn't do a follow up ad featuring "Enry's 'Ammer"

These sort of charming adverts still exist today, not only in the UK either! There is a global ad for Just For Men showing a barmaid saying "you've still got it" to a guy who shoots....a goal...right into a wide open...goal mouth.

Fran said on Sun, 8 Sep 2013 at 13:53...

most poppers in the uk are crappy isopropyl nitrate, my neighbor told me that you can buy all kinds of poppers in Poland! weird...still I like Rush when I can get the original one. FFS you could get it in some pubs in London before and then it stopped. at Heaven there were posters and you could get poppers as you went in (I think it was Heaven or maybe somewhere in Earls Court) that used to be strong as hell WOOO so much you can even smell it in the clubs....GLORY DAYS!

Mark said on Mon, 6 Oct 2014 at 03:21...

It's a shame and yes, there is a HUGE difference between old school poppers and new ones. Two reasons.

First, the best is simply amyl nitrite (not nitrAte), butyl and isopropyl are not as good in my opinion. The Butyl can come on a little quicker that Amyl but is not as smooth or long lasting. Isopropyl is simply weaker and shorter.

In the UK, Amyl nitrite and butyl nitrite are now illegal to produce for recreation purposes (though amyl nitrite is still a first-step antidiot to cyanide poisoning so it is still used medically).

Legal(sih) poppers in the UK now use either Isopropyl or cyclohexyl nitrite - another "also ran" half hearted effort.

That is part of the problem - not using Amyl or Butly - but in addition, most brands have the pure ester diluted with the raw alcohol - so for example, to make things cheap, a bottle of poppers might have 30% isopropyl nitrite and 70% isopropyl alcohol.

This explains the weak solventy high that you finally get after snorting half a bottle.

Also the very best poppers are properly finished. This means neutralising the excess acid and repeatedly washing the ester (the poppers juice) until it is free of excess acid. This makes it FAR less likely to give you chemical burns around the mouth / nose.

So the best you can get legally in the UK tends to be properly finished isopropyl nitrite.

To make it last longer and stop going off, dig out a second (and even a third) bottle. Then do this:-

A. Only ever open your main bottle to put perhaps a fifth of the bottle into your second bottle. This means the main bottle will only ever be opened perhaps five times - and kept in freezer the rest of the time. Used like this it will stay fresh until used.

B. Bottle 2 can be used just as normal OR if you don't like to have to worry about silling the stuff when you get high, then before you start using, simply pour some of the poppers from bottle 2 into a cotton wool filled bottle 3 - this absorbs the poppers - lets you inhale just as well as a normal bottle BUT impossible to spill :-)

In my internet "Poppers Shoppers Guide" I rate roomaromas.co.uk. as the worst:

"The very worst English Poppers company has got to be roomaromas.co.uk. They sent spam ads for their poppers to 3 of my email address in boxes. I followed the link and made a transaction for about $35 for 3 bottles of something I was unfamiliar with. They did not send a confirmation, so i checked my account on their website. It had my personal information, and my order was paid for using my credit card. Although they took my money, they immediately cancelled the order! I sent 4 emails of complaint. No response. They are now being investigated for fraud by my credit card company. roomaromas.co.uk will have to refund my money plus pay a large fine to the credit company.

Poppers Ban UK said on Wed, 27 Jan 2016 at 15:41...

Poppers will be banned from April 1st 2016 in the United Kingdom under the Psychoactive Bill. BUT and it is a big butt :-) there will be a review AFTER the ban which could see them back by the summer. This is due to a hue and cry about the poppers ban, which has included politicians saying the have used poppers, they are part of gay culture and all that sort of thing blah blah blah...

Talking of big butts or arseholes in fact, a few reactionary "Jeremy Clarkson with a degree" types have waded in to draw attention to their lackluster journalistic careers:

“I would have thought that the requirement for amyl nitrate to relax the sphincter muscle and lube to accommodate entry was God’s way of telling you that what you’re about to do is unnatural and perverse.

“Or your body’s way of telling you – your call. So eeeeuw. Amyl nitrate is very bad for you – so ban it. Crispin and others can always use a jemmy instead.”

Charmin! Note: "Charmin" is also a brand of toilet roll which is where the author's scribblin' belongs. Ch ch ch charmin...

Ecky Thump said on Tue, 2 Feb 2016 at 16:05...

One of the UK manufacturers (Liquid Gold) has been speaking out against the ban as well. I agree with "Jeremy Clarkson with a degree" - amyl nitrate is very bad for you, nitrates are basically used in fertilizers. Nitrites are what he means, did he pass his exams? or was he too busy behind the bike sheds smokin' or showing others his Enoch Powell key ring?

jammy dodger said on Fri, 11 Mar 2016 at 08:01...

Poppers will be illegal from April 1st in the UK. The idea that they will be banned does not quite cover it. They are bunched together with a whole bunch of nasty chemical crap that is being made in China and sold by sleazy "head shops" This crap is very dangerous of course and represents a risk to the target market...stupid people who think it is a good idea to ingest chemical formulas made specifically to create euphoria. Poppers are NOT the same thing at all. Technically they are a first aid medicine, traditionally used to treat angina and still used to treat snake bites and some other first aid emergency issues. The use of poppers is not dangerous. The fact that they also do something - relax muscles - and are appealing for that reason is pretty much it. There is some evidence that the new formula isopropyl nitrite creates eye problems. Isopropyl nitrite was created in the UK! because the traditional amyl nitrite and isobutyl nitrite were restricted under the medicines act. Neither are banned in France! Isobutyl nitrite was created as a response to the ban on amyl nitrite in the United States, but evidence suggests it is safe, except when used with erectile dysfunction medication. The whole thing is fooking ridiculous! The big question is what will happen when poppers are made illegal April 1....my guess? A knock on effect worldwide. Poppers are already banned in places like Austria, Canada, Denmark, and many other places. The issues here is that they are being made illegal and associated with some very bad stuff that they have fook all to do with!!!

Even Steven said on Mon, 14 Mar 2016 at 18:42...

“The evidence shows they don’t pose any great risk to health, and that’s why they have never been banned before.”

“Frankly they could have been made exempt from the new act without the need for a review, but the government didn’t want to admit they had got it wrong.

“While there is a review ongoing, of course the legitimate businesses that produce poppers should be allowed to continue to operate.”

The question is who said that?

1. Senor Don Poppers, Manufacturer of Kinky Max XX Grandfather Clock Cleaner

2. Hank E. Code, guy in the Horse and Whip, Soho.

3. Nick Clegg, Former Deputy Prime Minister.

The answer is......3!

Weird or what!?

Bilbo said on Wed, 16 Mar 2016 at 11:07...

Clegg is wrong.

“The evidence shows they don’t pose any great risk to health, and that’s why they have never been banned before.”

Yes they have been banned before, in their original form. The new version, created by the stupid ban that Clegg denies ever happened, does pose a risk to health - to sight to be specific. There was a well publicized case last week in the press; would have thought he has more time now to read the papers in detail and form a better informed opinion.

Lord E Lawdy! said on Wed, 16 Mar 2016 at 16:45...

CRaZy Breaking News: Someone has just realized that poppers are not psychoactive, but have "peripheral" action only. They do not not need to be exempt from the new UK law...as they do not fall under it! It looks like poppers were never really going to be banned, but some people thought they were. Oh...

99 Luft Baloons said on Wed, 23 Mar 2016 at 07:08...

Poppers will not be banned April 6th, that is all. Nothing to see here, move along please. This soap opera brought to you by Storm in a Teacup Productions. Lots of free misleading publicity for poppers manufacturers is the result of this nonsense. Eye specialists can look forward to more business too, as isopropyl nitrite screws up your vision.
